About

I started this blog officially the 10th of November, 2010.

My name is Gerardo Galíndez. You probably already know that, as this blog’s main audience are the people that follow me on Twitter and Facebook, which are its main means of distribution.

I started this blog with a couple of objectives to be fulfilled in mind. Some of them have been accomplished, some of them are yet to be accomplished, some of them haven’t even been given a shot. I’ll describe those objectives in that order.

The main reason and the main objective of this blog from its conception was to separate my personal life from Geek Press. I have been writing for that blog for a couple of years now. I have posted a lot of things on a lot of different topics, geek-related stuff, how-to’s, reviews, personal experiences, random non-sense and else. During the first week of November I was recalling about what I have done so far with Geek Press. After a thinking on it briefly, I decided that it was time to move my personal life out of it.

During these years I had used it not only as a mass distribution media, but also as an escape valve from what I thought and could not say. Every time I wrote something valuable, trendy or both, visits would sky-rocket. That was the point where I realized I didn’t want my personal thoughts and feelings exposed to that much people. And so, I decided to create a new blog, a personal blog where I would keep on writing personal things and leave Geek Press exclusively to non-personal topics.

Although that was my main goal when I got this blog, it’s not the only one anymore. As I began writing I found out that my closest friends, not only the ones that follow me on Twitter and Facebook but the ones that actually care, usually read my posts. I was glad to find that out, as keeping in touch is not always possible. And so, my second objective was to keep my closest friends up to date about what’s going on with me.

Just like the previous blogs, one objective has always been to improve on both English and writing. I can’t really count it as an objective of this blog as it’s more an objective on blogging than on a particular blog.

A fact that popped up sometime during this year in Geek Press was that I began using it to get rid of my emotions. Not being exactly emotionally stable, I found that writing made me see things in a clearer way. This has become also one of the angular objectives of this blog as I tend to relax and feel more comfortable when writing about anything that bothers me. It’s my catharsis of accepting a ton of things I just don’t like.

Within the other things I wanted to accomplish with this blog, ranks the photography part. I like photography very much. Since I started this blog, I try to take my camera with me wherever I go. It’s not always possible as Mexico City is not exactly a safe place to walk or drive around with a digital camera and any Nikon DSLR camera is bulky enough to prevent it from passing unnoticed.

Anyway, I try to carry it around with me, photographing whatever I think is interesting. Not every picture I take ends up here, but I’m about to change that. I was not a big fan of photologs until I realized how beautiful they look. Also, sharing photos is a nice way of showing everyone reading the blog your very own perspective of the life, as cheesy as that may sound.

Those are more or less my intentions with this blog. Resuming, it’s purpose of being is simply to be dump what I think, to improve on writing, to feel relieved and to share what is going on in my life. The thing that I’m working to accomplish at the moment of writing this, is to publish with a decent rate. I have a serious procrastination problem when it comes to my personal projects, so that’s the next task to cross through.
